The Institute of Communication Acoustics researches and develops methods for

• machine learning and signal processing in speech communication,
• models of auditory perception,
• sensor networks, federated learning, and data privacy,
• and the analysis and synthesis of acoustic scenes.

The focus is on statistical signal processing methods, machine learning (classification and regression with DNNs, generative methods), and modeling (electro-) acoustic systems.
Typical fields of application include human-computer interfaces, hearing aids and cochlear implants, and acoustic anomaly detection in industrial plants.
